St.Catherine High Cops Top Award at School Drama Festival 2014.

The Secondary Schools' Drama Festival 2014 was staged at the Little Theatre in Kingston on Monday November 17. Five schools participated- Ardenne High, Black River High, Kingston College, Waterford High and St.Catherine High. The first school to perform was Black River High with their play "The Final Chapter" written by Jevone Andy and Samantha Parchment-Andrews and was directed by Samatha Parchement-Andrews. The play was quite emotional and was well recieved by the audience. Up next was Kingston College with Patrick Brown's "Class of 73" which generated laughter and applause from the audience.

The audience was taken on "An Ancestrial Journey" by St.Catherine High. The cast was very energetic needless to say the crowd and the adjudicators enjoyed it. The play was written and directed by Akeem Mignott. Waterford High came with a very interesting piece entitled " Unconditional Love" . The curtains came down when Ardenne High performed Suzanne Beadle's "The Black Box" which was another interesting play directed by Suzanne Beadle and Jomo Dixon.

Denile Campbell Assist.Public Relations Officer at Jamaica Youth Theatre, was the Emcee for the event. Photographs were taken by Mr. Micheal Daley, Co-Founder of Theatre Jamaica. Although the awards ceremony took place the following Monday, the schools that participated were budding with excitment for the results. The awards show took place at the Little Little Theatre. Samantha Rae McLean from Jamaica Youth Theare acted as the Chairman for the show. The theatre was filled with excitement as the audience anxiously waited for the results.
